I would go with the the Wilson F1005 it is also a "small" ball and is very durable. This is the ball most schools used for years till the GST series came out.

Re: Wilson GST 1005 Football - Worth it ?

The 1005 is not too bad of a ball from what I can say that I have tossed it around. I was a big fan of the Rawlings ST5 back in the day, and I do not have very big hands.

One you may want to look into, although I have never used it is the Rawlings VR5. It came out about 3 years ago, and I assume it is still around. I don't know why more HS don't use it. It is a 5 panel ball, instead of 4 creating more grip, especially for someone with smaller hands.

I still got one of those old ST-5's, great ball. I am sure that the newone would be just as good if not better with the 5 panel's, is this one NFHS aproved.

Re: Wilson GST 1005 Football - Worth it ?

Thanks a bunch guys!

That VR5 looks pretty sweet .. and it's not expensive as most of the other balls either.

So now basically I have a bunch to choose from:

(WILSON)
GST 1005
F1005

(RAWLINGS)
ST5
VR5

Hmm .. I guess I'll just have to look them over for a while and I can finally make a decision.

Thanks again! I didn't even know some of these existed!

Re: Wilson GST 1005 Football - Worth it ?

I have not got to see a VR-5 in person, but they have an add in the rule book for them so I assume they are NFHS approved.

I also have an old ST-5 beast. Dang good ball.
